Nottingham Driving Standards Agency Fighting Fraud

Someone we sincerely hope we never come across at Mint Driving School is Guillaume De Vendrines, a man in his 30s who donned a latex mask to impersonate a 60 year old candidate whom he was trying to sit the written test for; something he later pleaded guilty for and was fined £1,500 by Croydon Magistrates Court.

Some people who don’t believe they can pass the UK’s practical and theory tests are going to organised gangs to help them flaunt the law and ultimately compromise the UK’s road safety.  And they are prepared to pay hundreds of pounds to cheat the system.  Driving Standard’s Agency Team Leader, Andy Rice, who is based in Nottingham, explained to the BBC that people will pay about £800 for someone else to take their theory test or about £1,600 to be impersonated in the practical test.  He said; “Gangs see it as a nice earner and when we started a gang could do 200 to 500 tests before they were caught.“  He went on to explain that gangs employ 8 to 10 people with different looks to match the learner’s provisional driving licence photograph.

Mr Rice managed the investigation that recently led to Britain’s first jail sentence for an interpreter who helped around 200 people cheat the driving theory test.  The Chinese interpreter was sentenced to 12 months in prison for correcting answers in tests between 2011 and 2012 in Birmingham.

Mint Driving School provides driving lessons across Nottingham, Derby, Chesterfield and Burton upon Trent and when one considers the prices that people are willing to pay to cheat the system, they would more than likely save more if they used a reputable Nottingham Driving School.  Our Nottingham Driving Instructors are patient, they teach people on an individual basis and get students to pass level as swiftly as possible.  So before you think about sending Guillaume De Vendrines to your theory test, speak to Mint Driving School first!
