Driving Lessons for Safe Driving in the Nottingham Countryside

One of Britain’s top advanced drivers issued some great advice this week to help you drive safely in the British countryside.  Most Driving Instructors in Nottingham know that a majority of accidents on the country’s roads actually happen, not on the motorways, but on winding, seemingly quiet, country roads. As the summer approaches, chances are we’ll all be using country roads at some point soon, so here are some very sensible tips:

Always be fully aware of vulnerable road users including cyclists and horses who are most likely to use these roads and give them plenty of space.

Because rural roads are winding, try and use hedge, tree and telegraph pole line as a guide to see which direction the road goes in.

Drive with extra care around seemingly isolated houses and buildings, just in case there are people or vehicles around.

Mud on the road often means farm vehicles and animals will be moving around.  Take extra care to look out for them emerging from entrances and expect them to be around bends and over brows.

If a small animal darts in front of you, avoid swerving.  Minor damage to your car far outweighs potentially losing control of your vehicle Incorporating these few precautions to your rural driving will really help to keep you and other road users much safer this summer.
